It's really very simple! Here are the steps:
Send me an email with a photo (preliminary) of the person/child you would like me to paint. Let's discuss this including your budget and what I charge for this type of painting that you require.
We then discuss the photography required for a successful outcome. I prefer to choose from various photos taken by a professional photographer in a studio with dramatic lighting (good contrast). Please refer to my portraits to get an idea of the lighting and contrast that works well for a realistic painting. I prefer to focus attention on the face and not on the background which should be neutral and secondary and not fight for attention by having too much detail. Lighting is paramount to the correct mood and I like to work with high contrast showing light and shadows on the face with the light (studio lighting) coming from one source. This creates a dramatic mood and interest so the painting doesn't look 'flat'.
Once these have been emailed to me in their original high resolution formats (jpegs) via DropBox or WeTransfer.com I choose one that I feel would work best for a formal portrait with just the right mood and feel. This photo will have something really special that I have picked up on and know I can express and communicate through the painting successfully. The photos should be a minimum of 300dpi resolution so that I can zoom in and study the details carefully.
We then discuss price. This is depending on the size, art materials used and how many people in the portrait. A quote will be emailed a for approval. Payment may be made very easily through a PayPal link I'll forward via email or Whatsapp/text.
On payment of this deposit the work can start.
A few photos will be emailed to you of the painting progress and one on completion.
DHL Shipping: This is a separate cost as it varies depending on where the package must travel to and takes around 3-4 working days. A quote will be emailed for the shipping. Please supply me with your physical address and postal code. A tracking number will be provided.
Once approved, this amount and the final painting costs will be invoiced. Once the transfer has been received I can ship the painting which will be rolled and placed carefully, well protected and securely in a cylindrical hardboard packaging. I would be able to advise on what sort of framing would look best for your painting once you have received it.
All my painting are high realism with details focused on the face and body and the background is in a loose free brush mark technique.
My work is painted in acrylic on stretched white canvas. All paintings are unique signed originals.
